A visit to the beach is a staple when on vacation in a place like the Philippines. That’s how a man in his mid-20s chose to celebrate the New Year on January 1, 2022. But out of nowhere, tragedy struck and beachgoers sprang into action to rescue the man. Arthur Benjamin Palm Beach philanthropist and founder of Action to End Drowning shares the incredible story:

While out in the water of the Pangasinan province of the Philippines, a young man in his 20s found himself in a scary situation. Seemingly out of nowhere, the man was knocked over by the water’s intense waves. The powerful tides coming his way made it impossible for him to stay afloat on his own. To say the last, this man was in a fight for his life.

Hearing his cries for help and noticing his signs of distress, beachgoers on the Binmaley beach immediately sprang into action to save the man. Tourists and locals alike quickly worked together to form a human chain reaching from the beach to the drowning man. A team effort, everyone worked together to fight back against the tides and pull the man to safety.

Talk about a beautiful display of humanity!! Arthur Benjamin applauds the heroic efforts of these individuals. Their quick thinking and team effort truly made a world of difference in saving a life. As always, noticing the signs of a drowning attack truly makes the difference between a life or death situation.
